Ben Roethlisberger's supporting cast is about to get even better, with the expected return of Le'Veon Bell soon.

Despite his close, long-term relationship with Bell, the Steelers' quarterback seems to be putting his support behind now-starter James Conner.

And for good reason. Through five games, Conner has 342 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, plus another 22 catches and 239 yards through the air. That's a great start to the year, by any definition. The only problem is, the guy coming back is the best running back in the league at his peak. Better than Conner at his best

While it's hard to know exactly what will happen when Bell returns, it seems like Big Ben is pushing for something closer to a 50/50 split, rather than Bell being the bellcow.

Given how unpredictable the dynamic within the Steelers' locker room has been this season, neither would be too surprising. Does Conner deserve an equal share of the touches? Sure. Does Le'Veon deserve plenty of carries? You bet.

It will be up to the Steelers coaching staff to figure out the correct balance here. And if they can find the perfect mix, then no matter what play is called, Roethlisberger will be handing the ball off or throwing check downs to the most dynamic backfield in the NFL.
