Chicago Bulls sophomore power forward Lauri Markkanen was hoping to come out this year and immediately build upon the success from his rookie season, where he averaged 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds.
INJURY UPDATE: Lauri Markkanen sustained a right elbow injury in practice yesterday. He underwent an MRI today that showed a high grade lateral elbow sprain. Markkanen is estimated to be out six-to-eight weeks. pic.twitter.com/lwSdKvKIiS— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) September 29, 2018
This is certainly a blow to a young Bulls team that was eager to get their new front court of Markkanen and rookie Wendall Carter going right away. While Chicago doesn't project to be a team that would make a playoff run, even in the Eastern Conference, you always want your young players to get as many reps together as possible.
