Julio Jones has been one of the best wide receivers in football over the last few seasons. In Week 3, however, it was his understudy, Calvin Ridley, that went absolutely bananas with seven catches on eight targets for 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
So now we've got a full-blown controversy as to who the new WR1 is on the Atlanta, right? Well, sort of...
Julio's struggles in the red zone have been well-documented since Steve Sarkisian took over (3 TDs in 19 regular season games) as offensive coordinator. The three touchdowns Julio scored last season were his lowest total since the 2013 season when he only scored twice but was also limited to five games.
As you can see in the tweet above, Ridley has managed to do something in three games with the team that Julio has failed to do in multiple seasons. Ridley does, however, get more one-on-one coverages with Julio drawing so much attention, especially down in the red zone.
Ridley will certainly be a popular choice after his three-TD performance in Week 3, but I'm going against the grain with Julio in hopes that the touchdowns flow his way on Sunday.
