Fantasy Football Pick Up, Drop, and Trade QB Options Following Week 1

With the first week of the 2018 NFL season in the books, fantasy team owners may already find themselves in a bind at quarterback. Specifically Aaron Rodgers owners, as the former MVP's status is still up in the air following the Packers' astounding comeback on Sunday night.

With teams looking for a viable replacement or simply a better answer at quarterback, there are moves to be made early this season. Here are the transactions you should consider following Week 1.

1. Pick Up: Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens

Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Cool is back! It's been a long time since Joe Flacco was a viable fantasy option, but now the weapons are there for him to thrive. Flacco proved he can be a monster in the right matchups by carving up the lowly Bills in Week 1. He barely played the fourth quarter and still managed to put up 236 yards and three touchdowns.

The best part is Flacco is owned in less than five percent of most fantasy leagues. If you need an insurance option or want to upgrade at QB, he could be your best bet.

2. Drop: Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Two-quarterback leagues make fantasy owners take risks on players like Jameis Winston. But you don't need to have him on your roster at this point. Not only is he suspended for two more games, but his backup, Ryan Fitzpatrick, just lit up the Saints defense for five total touchdowns on Sunday.

If Fitzpatrick keeps dropping dimes all over the field, look for Tampa to ride the hot hand, especially since this franchise never gets it right at the quarterback position. If you own Winston, swap him for Fitzpatrick immediately.

3. Trade for: Pat Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Plenty of people took a risk on Pat Mahomes in their draft and were rewarded with a monster performance in Week 1. Mahomes looked like a proven veteran when he got a spot-start last season in Week 17 at Denver and took that momentum into the 2018 opener by throwing four touchdowns.

Mahomes is a backup option on many fantasy teams, so you could probably get him in a trade for the right price.
