It seems that Randy Gregory's troubles are continuing going into the 2018 NFL season. Gregory, who hasn't played in an NFL regular season game since 2016, suffered another substance abuse related setback last month.

While the NFL has yet to officially rule on Gregory's punishment, you can expect one to come down soon. It was originally thought a ruling would be made prior to the Cowboys Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers, but it has not yet happened. It looks as though Gregory will suit up for the Week 1 game and await the ruling on his impending punishment.

Although it seems the NFL has taken steps to soften its punishments for drug use violators, that doesn't seem to apply to multiple time offenders yet, of which Gregory is one. If Gregory misses significant time its definitely a blow to the Cowboys defense that doesn't possess depth at pass rusher.

Gregory has all the talent in the world when on the football field, but the best ability is availability and Gregory clearly struggles with that.
