Well, I don't think anyone saw this one coming. At least not this quickly.

Adrian Peterson has been named the starting running back for the Washington Redskins.

Does this mean Peterson will actually be fantasy relevant again as an RB1 for the first time since suiting up for the Vikings almost two years ago? Relevant, yes. But stud, probably not. I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing AP return to his former fantasy glory as a top back in the league.

Just keep in mind, the Redskins' backfield was one of the thinnest and most underwhelming in the entire league when Washington acquired Peterson two weeks ago. Most people were expecting the Redskins' second-round pick Derrius Guice to patch those needs, but he tore his ACL just before the preseason started.

What does all of this add up to? Peterson is the starter, but don't expect another 2,000-yard season.
