It's official. After months of speculation and rumors, a basketball legend is finally calling it quits.

After a distinguished career with the San Antonio Spurs, in which he was a four-time NBA champion (among many accolades), Manu Ginobili is retiring from professional basketball and he couldn't have announced in a more fitting way.

The above statement couldn't define Manu any better. A consummate professional throughout his 16 years in the Association, the Argentinian was a man of great passion, intensity and most importantly, a sense of humility that is rarely seen in today's game. Posting this touching farewell in a time where the NBA is overlooked in favor of the NFL and MLB is classic Manu.

The world of basketball will definitely miss Ginobili, but he may not be off the radar for long. There were several rumors swirling around before his announcement that the BIG3 is looking to recruit the Spurs legend.

It's highly unlikely he'll consider the BIG3's offer so soon, but who knows? For now, fans should reflect on the amazing career and impact he had as an ambassador of the game.
