49ers Working Out Several Kickers in Wake of Robbie Gould Injury

The San Francisco 49ers can't seem to avoid the injury bug, again in 2021. Up next on the injury report is kicker Robbie Gould. The 17-year NFL veteran suffered a groin injury in Sunday's warmups and it looks like he'll head to the shelf for at least 3-5 weeks.
San Francisco responded quickly and according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the team is trying out several free-agent options this week.
With Robbie Gould out several weeks, the #49ers are trying out several veteran kickers, including Michael Badgley, Brett Maher and Joey Slye, per sources.

49ers Rumors
That list includes Michael Badgley, Brett Maher and Joey Slye, as the team looks to remedy its kicking situation as soon as possible.
This trio of kickers is relatively unexperienced, with Badgley owning the longest career of four seasons. The former Miami Hurricane spent three of those seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and hits 78.8% of his career attempts.
Slye owns three years of kicking experience between the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans. He's appeared in 35 career games and hits 79.5% of his career field-goal attempts, including 15-of-15 between 30-39 yards.
Maher spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 and 2019. He connected on 6-of-7 attempts from 50+ yards in 2018, but owns the lowest total career percentage of 74.2%.
San Francisco travels to take on their division rival Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. Entering the matchup, the 49ers sit as 5.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
