The San Francisco 49ers are coming off of a much-needed win in Week 10 that finally pushed them back over .500. They'll certainly be tested this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, who are eager to get back in the playoff race after moving to 4-6 on the year.

Heading into Week 11, San Francisco has decided to shake up its quarterback depth.

Practice squad quarterback Kurt Benkert was released by the team on Tuesday. He tweeted out a nice message after the news, saying he "really enjoyed this stint in Santa Clara."

Benkert was signed by the 49ers in September to shore up their depth after Trey Lance's season-ending injury. The journeyman didn't end up playing for the Niners, though, and he'll now be forced to search for a new home.

Taking Benkert's place on the practice squad will be Jacob Eason. He's a fellow journeyman who has made appearances for the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers over the past two seasons.

San Francisco still currently has just two QBs on its active roster in starter Jimmy Garoppolo and backup Brock Purdy.
