The 2021 NFL season is only a month away and the San Francisco 49ers will be looking to bounce back after finishing a disappointing 6-10 last year.
The 49ers should be able to take care of business in Week 1 going up against the Detroit Lions on the road, and they open as the biggest favorites on the board.
San Francisco is favored by 7.5 points over Detroit, according to Week 1 NFL Odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook.
This isn't much of a surprise as the Lions failed to pay consistent football in 2020 and then traded away starting quarterback Matthew Stafford during the offseason. Overall, Detroit scored just 23.6 points per game last season (No. 20 in NFL), while giving up a league-high average of 32.4.
On the other side, the 49ers were ravaged by injuries last year and seemingly have the pieces in place to compete for an NFC West title in 2021. Tight end George Kittle is fully healthy and the team also gets back wide receiver Deebo Samuel on offense and Nick Bosa on defense.
The only question that surrounds the 49ers in training camp is who the starting quarterback will be. Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo led this squad to a Super Bowl appearance just two seasons ago, but rookie first-round pick Trey Lance has the potential to be a game-changing type of player.
The only other team favored by at least a touchdown is the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Sean McVay & company opens as a 7-point favorite over the Chicago Bears.
The 49ers will look to get their season started with a win as they take on the Lions at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 12.
