49ers on Brink of Losing Key Coach to Texans

After some reports that San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans was uninterested in the Houston Texans head coaching job, it now appears the highly touted DC could be on his way to becoming the HC of his former team.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ryans could meet with the Texans as early as Monday afternoon once he has completed all of his responsibilities closing out the season with the 49ers. If things keep progressing the way that they are, Houston could hire Ryans by mid-week.

Ryans has become an increasingly desirable name in the coaching market this cycle after leading San Francisco's top-ranked defense this season.

The Texans have always had Ryans at the top of their list to be the team's next head coach. He was a star player for them during his playing career, spending the first six years of his 10-year career in Houston and earning two Pro Bowl selections as a linebacker.

Ryans has done an incredible job with the 49ers and now might have a chance to help turn around the franchise that drafted him, which would truly be a full-circle moment.
