49ers Get Great Injury Updates on Two Key Players

The 2020 NFL season was one to forget for the San Francisco 49ers. While this imposing defense struggled with a slew of injuries, that's all in the rearview mirror thanks to the healthy returns of stud pass-rusher Nick Bosa and his fellow EDGE rusher Dee Ford.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided positive injury updates on two of his leading pass-rushers as the 2021 season quickly approaches.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan says Dee Ford looks "fresh" after missing most of 2020 season: "The way he looks out on the field, he looks like Dee Ford"https://t.co/nQSgGMevG7 pic.twitter.com/aWfGeHGzio

Not only did Shanahan say that Ford "looks fresh," but he also isn't worried about Bosa shaking off rush in the beginning of the year. After a 2019 Rookie of the Year campaign, Bosa missed all but two games with an ACL tear in 2020.
Ford, who should compete for snaps opposite of Bosa, played only one game last season and the absence of these two pass-rushers was evident in the 49ers' defense. In fact, San Francisco went from a top-5 team in sacks (48) in 2019 to an underwhelming 22nd-ranked finish last year (30).
The combination of a healthy Ford and Bosa should have opposing quarterbacks shivering in fear. After all, the pair owns three seasons with at least 9.0 sacks and considering Bosa did that in his only full NFL season, that's a scary thought.
San Francisco heads into Week 1 as 7.5-point road favorites against the Detroit Lions, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
