49ers Get Concerning News With Surprise George Kittle Injury Update
For a team seemingly stuck with a bad case of the injury bug over the last few seasons, the San Francisco 49ers received a concerning update around their starting tight end on Wednesday morning.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that George Kittle is now dealing with a groin injury, per reports from 49ers practice. Kittle did not participate in practice on Wednesday.
George Kittle Injury Update
According to Shanahan, the injury was picked up during team practice on Monday. It's unclear the exact severity of this groin issue, but Kittle is officially listed as questionable on the weekly injury report ahead of Sunday's game versus the Chicago Bears.
49ers News
The thought of Kittle missing time is nothing new in San Francisco. The three-time Pro Bowler has played a full season just once in his five-year NFL career thus far, averaging 13.4 games played per season.
With or without Kittle, the 49ers are preparing for another repeat of their successful run to the NFC Championship Game in 2021. Trey Lance will be under center as San Francisco aims for a convincing Week 1 victory over Chicago.
That matchup is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. The 49ers are listed as 6.5-point road favorites according to the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
