4 Most Likely Trade Destinations for Xander Bogaerts

The Boston Red Sox have stumbled out of the gates this season. The defending World Series champions are sitting in fourth place in the AL East at 14-18, and if they don't turn things around soon, the Red Sox could be sellers at the trade deadline.

Xander Bogaerts is immensely talented, but Boston could move him at the deadline because of his six-year, $120 million contract. If the Red Sox decide to move on, here are the four likeliest trade destinations for Bogaerts.

4. Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels already have a starting shortstop in Andrelton Simmons, but you can't ignore a talent like Bogaerts. Adding Bogaerts to an offense that already features Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout could make the Angels' lineup a lot more dangerous.

3. Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays are currently sitting atop the AL East with a 20-11 record. The Rays' pitching staff has been fantastic this season, and adding a talent like Bogaerts could make this team a legitimate World Series contender.

2. Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers' roster is loaded. Lead by reigning MVP Christian Yelich, this team has the talent to make a World Series run. However, they could use an upgrade at shortstop. Even though Milwaukee's most pressing need is arguably the bullpen, the thought of pairing Bogaerts and Yelich may be too tempting for the Brewers to pass up.

1. New York Mets

The New York Mets are currently 16-15, and they've been surprisingly carried by their offense this season. Adding Bogaerts to a lineup with Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto could make the Mets a really dangerous team. If the Mets trade for Bogaerts, this team could make a World Series run, provided Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard can get back on track.
