3 Waiver Wire QBs for Drew Brees Fantasy Owners to Stream in Week 3

One of fantasy football's most reliable and durable options exited Sunday's game with an injury in Week 2, as Drew Brees was forced to leave with a thumb injury in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Rams.

He was replaced by Teddy Bridgewater, and was ruled out midway through the second half. If anything is broken or torn, however, Brees could be looking at a multi-week absence.
Since Brees owners may not have a backup, they will likely have to look to the waiver wire for a starting QB in fantasy for Week 3. With that in mind, here are three QBs available in more than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues.
3. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
Despite the team's proclamation that they were going to run more in 2019, the Lions have been slinging it like they always do so far this season. Stafford only attempted 30 passes in Week 2, but finished with 245 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It was a decent showing in a tough matchup against the Chargers, and things could get a lot better in Week 3 at the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that gave up 380 yards and three scores to Case Keenum in Week 1. Stafford, who is available in 34 percent of Yahoo! leagues, should find himself in a point-chasing game script on the road in Week 3, which will make him a borderline QB1.
2. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are 2-0 and second-year QB Josh Allen is a big reason for their impressive start. After totaling 254 passing yards and two combined touchdowns in Week 1, he posted a similar line in Week 2 against the Giants – 253 passing yards and two more scores. This time around, however, Allen didn't throw an interception after throwing a pair in Week 1 versus the Jets. If he can limit the turnovers and improve on his rushing total (17 carries for 59 yards through two games), Allen is in a prime spot in Week 3, taking on a Bengals defense that just got thrashed by the next player on this list. Allen is available in 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
1. Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo was one of the top performers in Week 2, putting up a 297-yard, three-touchdown effort against the Bengals. Garoppolo, who is available in 52 percent of Yahoo! leagues, looked more like the quarterback the 49ers thought they were getting from New England, hitting multiple receivers for big plays while completing 68 percent of his passes. The 49ers do draw an early bye in Week 4, but for those who need him for just one week, San Fran has a solid matchup at home against the Steelers in Week 3. Pittsburgh has given up QB1 games to Tom Brady and Russell Wilson in back-to-back weeks, making Jimmy G a high-end waiver option for those fantasy owners who potentially lost Brees.
