Two-start pitchers provide a sneaky advantage in head-to-head fantasy baseball leagues. They give you an extra bump in counting stats like wins and strikeouts and can also help counter a lousy start by getting your team's innings number up. While most starters toe the rubber once in a typical week, when you can find a two-start pitcher with favorable matchups on the waiver wire, it's an even bigger advantage.
With that in mind, here are three two-start pitchers worth adding off the waiver wire for Week 4.
3. Trevor Williams, Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are in first place in the NL Central and you can get one of their best pitchers off the waiver wire for two starts this week. Trevor Williams will show off his 2.59 ERA against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday and Sunday, respectively. He has four quality starts in four outings this season and is the type of pitcher that limits damage, giving him a lot more upside than most waiver-wire options.
2. Sonny Gray, Cincinnati Reds
Sonny Gray gets one home (Tuesday vs. Atlanta Braves) and one road start (Sunday at St. Louis Cardinals) this week. He's coming off an outing at the Los Angeles Dodgers where he tallied a quality start to go along with nine strikeouts. Gray has at least six Ks in each of his April starts, so he'll at least give your squad a boost in that category this week.
1. Mike Minor, Texas Rangers
Mike Minor is finally living up to his top-prospect billing in, of all places, Texas. A former first-round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves, Minor has thrived so far in 2019, going 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP and 22 Ks in 27 2/3 innings. He gets the Oakland A's and Seattle Mariners this week, both on the road, where the lefty has great numbers. Minor has a 2.35 ERA in three career games at Oakland Coliseum and has 10 Ks in 10 1/3 career innings at T-Mobile Park, formerly known as SAFECO Field.
