The 2022 NFL season is rapidly approaching, highlighted by Week 1 of the preseason kicking off on Thursday. Even though the new campaign is nearly here, there are still several prominent names sitting in free agency, including veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.

Hilton's still looking for work after spending 10 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. While he's no longer in his prime, he still brings over 9,600 career receiving yards and 143 games played to the table. On a cheap one-year "prove it" deal, the 32-year-old could still be a contributor for a WR-needy team.

Here are three teams that should sign Hilton before the 2022 season begins.

T.Y. Hilton Free Agency

1. Kansas City Chiefs

With Hilton's career nearing its end, it's possible that he could sign with a contender for one last shot at a Super Bowl. Signing with the Kansas City Chiefs would give him that opportunity while improving their wideout depth in the process. The Chiefs are gambling with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as their top wideouts, while rookie Skyy Moore and the inconsistent Mecole Hardman are expected to contribute too. Though Hilton might not be better than Smith-Schuster or MVS at this stage of his career, he's a proven leader that could add some experience to the group. He'd also face less pressure than he did on the Colts, allowing him to potentially end his career on a stress-free high note.

2. Indianapolis Colts

Speaking of the Colts, there's always a chance that Hilton could return for his 11th season. After all, it was only back in July that general manager Chris Ballard told reporters that the former FIU product is "still in the mix" to be brought back. Colts fans would love this considering that Hilton has always been a fan favorite and there's the possibility that Matt Ryan could help him bounce back. The veteran pass-catcher averaged 33.1 receiving yards per game in 2021 and while that's far from his best clip, he was on pace for 563 yards over 17 games, which would've been second-best on the team last year. If both sides are willing to work with each other again, it's hard to imagine a more perfect fit than Hilton with the Colts.

3. Green Bay Packers

After trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Green Bay Packers WR room is all over the place. They're rolling with Allen Lazard, Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins as their top three wideouts. While that isn't awful on paper, Watson is only a rookie while Watkins has failed to crack 600 yards in five of the last six seasons. Although Hilton isn't the biggest upgrade, his prime was a lot closer than Watkins' and Rodgers would likely appreciate having another veteran wideout on the roster. The four-time NFL MVP would be the best QB that Hilton has played with, offering him a great chance to finally win a championship ring.
