The Miami Dolphins are reportedly looking to shop two-time Pro Bowler Reshad Jones, after the disgruntled safety failed to show up to OTAs. While Jones is expected at minicamp, the Dolphins would be wise to move him rather than let him potentially walk away in free agency next summer.
With that in mind, here are three potential trade destinations for Jones.
3. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are coming off another disappointing season and their secondary really struggled in 2018. They surrendered 7.3 yards per completion last season, which ranked No. 26 in the NFL, and the Lions did not draft any safeties this April. Jones could step in and start right away, and he could make an instant impact in Detroit.
2. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers were another bad secondary in 2018, allowing opponents to complete 66.73 percent of their passes (No. 26 in the NFL). Eric Reid is still with the team, and he and Jones could make an excellent tandem. Jones is a bonafide playmaker who tallied three interceptions in 2018, and he'd instantly bolster Carolina's shaky secondary.
1. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers entered last season with a lot of hype before losing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL, and will begin the 2019 season with much hype yet again. The team improved their pass rush significantly with the additions of Nick Bosa and Dee Ford, but secondary is still a need for San Francisco. The 49ers surrendered 27.2 points per game (PPG) last season, and Jones could help solidify San Francisco's secondary.
