3 Most Likely Landing Spots for Ron Rivera

It's probably not going to take Ron Rivera very long to find his next head coaching job in the NFL. In fact, according to Michael Silver, Rivera could be hired sometime in the next 72 hours.

So, where might "Riverboat Ron" be headed for next season? Here are three of the most likely landing spots for the two-time AP Coach of the Year winner.

3. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season. After sky-high expectations and even improving to one of the top preseason Super Bowl LIV contenders by the odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Browns missed the postseason yet again in 2019. Between losing Myles Garrett for the rest of the season due to his actions in an ugly brawl in Week 11 and criticism of Kitchens' ability to control this locker room, Rivera could be a great fit as someone who can lay down the law and run this talent show with more authority in Cleveland next season.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars seem to have lost their identity. The equity built up by Doug Marrone's run to the AFC Championship in 2017 has just about run out and owner Shad Khan, while he might've reportedly disputed the report that Marrone will be fired, seems eager to start fresh. Enter Rivera, who's coached some great defensive teams and has always looked to feature the running game on offense. The Jaguars have had the most success when they lean on Leonard Fournette and the strength of their defense to win games. With that being said, there might not be a candidate better suited to get back to that than Rivera.

1. Washington Redskins

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Rivera is already expected to be hired by the Washington Redskins in the very near future. The Redskins have the pieces to become a defensive juggernaut under a defensive-minded head coach like Rivera. He's also been at the helm of some explosive offensive teams in Carolina as well, which could bode well for the development of Washington's young offensive core. With the talent already in place on this roster, Washington looks to be the most seamless fit for Rivera.
