3 Most Likely Kelly Oubre Trade Destinations

A few notable names are expected to switch teams by Thursday's NBA Trade Deadline, and Golden State Warriors forward Kelly Oubre Jr. very well could be one of them. On a $14.4 million expiring contract, Golden State could use Oubre in a package for a player that better fits this team when back at full strength next season.
With that in mind, here are three likely destinations for Oubre before the deadline.
Kelly Oubre Trade Rumors
3. Orlando Magic
As an Aaron Gordon trade becomes more likely, Golden State could ramp up its pursuits after already being linked to the promising forward. Gordon has untapped potential that's been squandered while with the Orlando Magic, but he could thrive under Steve Kerr and enjoy added production as defenses focus on the Warriors' backcourt. With Gordon under contract until next season and providing a different element to the offense, he makes more sense for Golden State. In this hypothetical, Orlando would likely be eager to add a proven scorer like Oubre that the team needs while also nabbing draft capital in exchange for Gordon.
2. Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks seem headed for some type of move at the deadline, with the roster struggling in the early part of the season after spending big this offseason. One addition that hasn't worked out is Bogdan Bogdanovic, who'd be an interesting Warriors target. He can slot in perfectly as a third threat on this Golden State team, bringing scoring and distributing alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson sits. With him under contract until the 2023-24 season (which is a player option), he'd be a long-term piece for the Warriors as they try to compete while the backcourt is still in their prime. From the Hawks' perspective, they get a better scorer in Oubre -- 14.9 points per game versus just 9.5 PPG for Bogdanovic in a down year -- and a huge contract off of their books.
1. New Orleans Pelicans
Polarizing point guard Lonzo Ball has been linked to Golden State recently, and Oubre would likely be part of a package to acquire the New Orleans Pelicans guard. Ball will always be a gifted passer (career 6.4 per game average), but he's made strides as a three-point shooter this season (career-high 38.5% from deep), and he'd bring an intriguing dynamic to the Warriors' offense while on the court with Curry and Thompson. Ball would also be able to lead second units and allow the backcourt to rest, keeping them fresh throughout the season. At only 23 years old and due for an extension, he still has room to grow, making him an exciting piece to add to the Warriors' core. Given Ball not really fitting in New Orleans anymore, the Pelicans could be interested in Oubre's scoring prowess as they vie for a playoff spot.
