The Jacksonville Jaguars' history is certainly not a long one, though the team has always had a knack for fielding some top-tier talents across a variety of positions. And running back is certainly no exception.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the three best running backs in Jaguars history.

3. Leonard Fournette (2017-Present)

Leonard Fournette is neck and neck with James Stewart, but Fournette's peak is considerably higher, so he gets the nod here. Stewart has punched in 33 scores on the ground to Fournette's 17, but he never had a 1,000-yard rushing season during his time with the Jaguars. Fournette, meanwhile, has had two such campaigns, and is coming off the best season of his career, tallying 1,674 yards from scrimmage. Stewarts career-best mark in that category is 1,039.

2. Maurice Jones-Drew (2006-13)

From 2009-11, Maurice Jones-Drew was one of the best running backs in the entire league. During that three-year stretch, Jones had the third-most yards from scrimmage in the league (5,386), trailing only Ray Rice and Chris Johnson. Notably, his 34 total scores during that period were more than either Rice or Johnson put together. Jones was a three-time Pro Bowler for the Jags, and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2011, when he led the league with 1,606 rushing yards.

1. Fred Taylor (1998-08)

But MJD still can't top the man he began his career backing up, Fred Taylor. Taylor's 11,271 rushing yards are the best mark in franchise history, and his 80.5 rushing yards per game are also tops for the franchise. From 1998-07, Taylor racked up at least 1,146 rushing yards in each season that saw him play at least 14 games. Though injuries always seemed to bother Taylor, he was undeniably one of the league's best when on the field, posting five seasons with at least 1,500 yards from scrimmage in Jacksonville. Somehow, Taylor was only selected to one Pro Bowl, but it's hard to argue that anyone else should be atop this list.
