One of the NFL's all-time great franchises, the Denver Broncos have been to eight Super Bowls — tied for the second most in league history.

That kind of success doesn't come without some elite quarterback play, and the Broncos have had some all-time greats suit up under center.

With that in mind, here are the three greatest quarterbacks in Denver Broncos history.

3. Craig Morton (1977-1982)

Craig Morton spent most of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, but he played out his final six seasons in Denver, with a couple of real high points. He joined the Broncos in 1997, after the team had finished 9-5 the previous year. Morton's 1,929-yard, 14-touchdown season helped lead them to a 12-2 regular season record, two playoff wins and a Super Bowl appearance — the first in franchise history. He also ranks third in franchise history in both passing yards (11,895) and touchdowns (74), but it's that first ever Super Bowl berth that will forever endear Morton to Broncos fans.

2. Peyton Manning (2012-2015)

Making it to No. 2 on the list in just four seasons is a testament to just how good Peyton Manning's time in Denver was. It looked like there was risk that his career was all but over after he missed the entire 2011 season with a neck injury, but he quickly erased those doubts. The Broncos finished 13-3 and Manning was a first-team All-Pro in each of his first two seasons in Denver, which included a 5,477-yard, 55-touchdown campaign in 2013. Health and age caught up to manning in 2015, but he returned to action and was able to lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl win, the only thing that had eluded him in those three years of elite production.

1. John Elway (1983-1998)

This one shouldn't come as a surprise. When talking about Denver Super Bowls, John Elway should be the first player that comes to mind. He led them to three in four seasons early in his career, though he came up short in all three. Those bitter memories were erased in the 1997 and 1998 seasons, however, when Elway led the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl victories. With five championship appearances (including two victories) and more than twice as many passing yards (51,475) and touchdowns (300) as anyone else in franchise history, there is no debate about the greatest QB in Broncos history.
