The Cincinnati Bengals are hoping that they just landed the NFL's next great quarterback in LSU superstar Joe Burrow. It remains to be seen if Burrow will live up to his lofty potential, but if he does, it won't be long before he's one of the best QBs the Bengals have seen.

Looking at his competition for that title, here are the three greatest quarterbacks in Bengals history.

Best Cincinnati Bengals Quarterbacks of All Time

3. Boomer Esiason (1984-1997)

Until the Bengals franchise wins its first Super Bowl, simply appearing in the big game will be a big deal. In 1988, Boomer Esiason led the Bengals to just their second ever Super Bowl appearance, ultimately falling to the San Francisco 49ers. That offense was a force to be reckoned with, though, as the Bengals led the NFL in both points and yards in the regular season. Under Esiason, the Bengals ranked top-five in both points and yards in the same season four different times.

2. Andy Dalton (2011-2019)

Andy Dalton often gets tagged with a reputation as a mediocre quarterback, but that really under-sells just how good he's been. He is the Bengals franchise leader in passing touchdowns (204) and ranks second in yards (31,595), while his 87.5 passer rating is the best for any Bengals QB with 500-plus attempts. Some of that is a reflection of the era in which he's played, but Dalton also ranks 10th in the NFL in passing touchdowns over the past decade, as well as ninth in yards. His 53.4 percent win percentage is also the best among all Bengals starters with at least 20 games played.

1. Ken Anderson (1971-1986)

Ken Anderson's win percentage only just trails Dalton's (52.9 percent), and he brought the franchise to levels of postseason success that Dalton did not. Anderson and the Bengals made their first ever Super Bowl in 1981, which was one of four postseason appearances they made. Anderson is the franchise's all-time leading passer (32,838) and only just trails Dalton in touchdowns (197). He is still the measuring stick for greatness at the quarterback spot in Cincinnati.
