The Kansas City Chiefs have had some pretty extreme highs and lows throughout the history of the franchise. They played in the very first Super Bowl in 1966, won a Super Bowl in 1969, and didn't return to the Big Game until 2019.

Through the highs and lows, there have been some great quarterbacks to suit up in KC. Here are the three best.

Best Kansas City Chiefs Quarterbacks of All Time

3. Trent Green (2001-2006)

The Chiefs haven't had many long-tenured QBs, so Trent Green's five and a half seasons were enough for him to reach No. 2 in franchise history for both passing yards (21,459) and touchdowns (118). He played in a run-heavy era for KC, with Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson in the backfield, but Green was under center when the Chiefs ranked top-six in the NFL in scoring and top-five in yards in four consecutive seasons (2002 to 2005).

2. Patrick Mahomes (2017-Present)

It's not going to be long before Patrick Mahomes takes the top spot on this list, but for now two elite seasons is enough to get him to No. 2. After sitting for most of his rookie year, Mahomes burst onto the scene by throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns, earning NFL MVP honors in 2018. He followed that up with a Super Bowl win (and Super Bowl MVP award) in 2019. Mahomes has made 31 regular season starts, throwing for 9,412 yards and 76 touchdowns. Those are both NFL records, with Kurt Warner sitting second in yards (9,030) and Warner and Dan Marino tied for second in touchdowns (73).

1. Len Dawson (1962-1975)

Despite playing in a much different era, Len Dawson still holds the Chiefs' franchise records in passing touchdowns (237), passing yards (28,507) and QB wins (93). He led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl I appearance against the Green Bay Packers, then a Super Bowl IV win over the Minnesota Vikings. Dawson twice earned first-team All-Pro honors in the AFL (1962 and 1966), and he was a seven-time Pro Bowler. He also led the league in touchdowns four times from 1962 to 1965 and completion percentage seven times in eight years from 1962 to 1969.
