The Cleveland Browns looked to have turned a corner when they finished 11-5 and made the playoffs in 2020. However, everything came crashing back down in 2021 when the team finished out the outside looking in with a record of 8-9. This roster is not too far off from being a contender, though.

Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry has an opportunity to put the finishing touches on this team through NFL free agency. The Browns are projected to have over $26 million in available cap space to use and the market is full of talented players looking for a new team to call home.

Here's a look at three free agents that the Browns need to sign to make a Super Bowl run next season.

Browns Free Agent Targets

1. Allen Robinson, Wide Receiver

It would be a mistake for the Browns not to throw everything they have at the top wide receivers in free agency. Cleveland has a reliable slot receiver in Jarvis Landry, but lacks any kind of outside threat for quarterback Baker Mayfield to take advantage of. Chris Godwin may get too expensive, but Allen Robinson's market value is projected at $16.3 million, according to Spotrac. The front office should be willing to take the cap hit to improve a passing attack that averaged just 195.3 passing yards per game in 2021 (No. 27 in NFL). It's worth pointing out that Robinson has finished with over 1,000 receiving yards in two of his last three seasons.

2. Melvin Ingram, Defensive End

The Browns thrive when they are able to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable in the pocket. Cleveland tied for the ninth-most sacks this past season (43.0) and could lose a big contributor in Jadeveon Clowney to free agency (9.0 sacks). Finding an affordable option to pair with All-Pro Myles Garrett should be at the top of a list of needs for this team. Veteran Melvin Ingram stands out as a target here after revamping his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Ingram finished the 2021 season with 11 quarterback hits and 2.0 sacks across 15 games played (7 starts). He also logged a forced fumble and pass breakup. Adding him to a strong defensive line could work wonders for the Browns.

3. Younghoe Koo, Kicker

It's not often that a team prioritizes the kicking game when signing free agents during the offseason. The Browns would be smart to buck that trend. Cleveland plays in a ton of one-score games every season and has not had a reliable kicker since the likes of Phil Dawson in the late 2000s. Chase McLaughlin only made 15 of his 21 field goal attempts in 2021, while Younghoe Koo nailed 27 of his 29 field goal attempts for the Atlanta Falcons. Koo is a Pro Bowl kicker that owns a career field goal percentage of 90% and has made 87 of his 91 extra point attempts since joining the NFL in 2017. Signing him would be a massive upgrade.
