Philadelphia Phillies' outfielder Andrew McCutchen suffered a sprained knee during a first-inning rundown against the San Diego Padres last night. The timetable for his injury has yet to be determined, but you might need a fantasy replacement for the time being.
With that in mind, here are three potential waiver-wire replacements for McCutchen.
3. Jackie Bradley Jr., Boston Red Sox
Jackie Bradley Jr. was an absolute disaster early in the season, and he was rightfully dropped by many fantasy owners. However, JBJ had a great May, which suggests he could be worth a flier. During May, he hit four HR, nine RBI, with a slash line of .247/.363/.481. Given his recent performance, Bradley could be a solid replacement for McCutchen.
2. David Fletcher, Los Angeles Angels
After an impressive April, David Fletcher was put on the fantasy radar. In May, Fletcher hit three HR, 11 RBI and scored 15 R while batting .317. Currently on a 13-game hitting streak, he is one of the hottest pickups in fantasy, and he could be a great option if he's still available in your league.
1. Oscar Mercado, Cleveland Indians
Currently batting second in the Cleveland Indians' lineup, Oscar Mercado has hit well since being called up on May 13. While Mercado hit .304 in the month of May, it's his speed that should get you excited. Mercado stole 37 bases in the minors last year, and he has stolen as many as 50 in a season. He has two steals since getting called up, and his speed could make him an excellent replacement for McCutchen.
