Jimmy Garoppolo is the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback, leading his team to the Super Bowl just one season removed form a torn ACL. With an up-and-down year from a personal statistical standpoint, specific prop bets on Garoppolo might be hard to predict.
However, with that in mind, let's take a look at three of the best Jimmy G prop bets to consider on FanDuel Sportsbook ahead of his matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54.
1. Will Jimmy Garoppolo Throw a First Quarter Touchdown?: Yes (+150)
While Jimmy G might not be the touchdown monster that Patrick Mahomes has been in his short career, he still managed to put up a respectable 27 passing touchdowns in 2019. Of those 27, eight of them came in the first quarter, which was the most of any quarter. Even if the 49ers come out with a run-heavy approach in the first quarter, history tells us, Jimmy G has a good shot of throwing a TD in the opening frame.
2. QB to Be Sacked First: Jimmy Garoppolo (-115)
This one might not be a positive for Jimmy G, but nevertheless, it seems like a solid prop bet. While the Niners defensive line is one of the best in football (averaging 3.2 sacks per game, compared to Kansas City's 2.9), Mahomes has the clear edge from a mobility standpoint, which is an obvious help in evading sacks. Kansas City allowed 1.6 sacks per game this season, while San Francisco allowed 2.2. Assuming trends continue, you have an edge here on a bet the sportsbook is considering an even chance on either side.
3. Jimmy Garoppolo - Passing Yards: Over 242.5 (-112)
While Jimmy Garoppolo has just 27 combined pass attempts in his last two games, those were both one-sided contests, which can always quickly turn a team's strategy into a run-heavy approach. Garoppolo has averaged 25.7 attempts and 208.8 yards per game in contests decided by at least seven points in 2019. In his seven games decided by less than a touchdown, those averages jump to 31.4 attempts and 269.9 yards — a mark that would hit this over with ease.
