Even though the Chicago White Sox are currently leading the AL Central, their divisional lead is slipping as they've lost seven of their last 10 games this season. Fortunately, a great injury update regarding veteran outfielder Billy Hamilton means that reinforcements are on the way.

After being on the injured list since June 6 with a strained right oblique, the White Sox reinstated Hamilton to the active roster on Tuesday. The move was just one of many that Chicago made on the day. The organization recalled 1B Gavin Sheets from Triple-A Charlotte while also optioning OF Luis González to the minors and placing IF Jake Lamb on the 10-day IL (quad strain).

Billy Hamilton Injury Update

Before landing on the IL, Hamilton had recorded 2 home runs and 10 RBI on 69 at-bats. However, he accomplished that on a disappointing .217 batting average — the 2nd-worst total of his career if things stay the same. Nevertheless, there are some bright spots to the switch-hitter's performance in this campaign. Hamilton's a perfect 5-for-5 when it comes to stolen bases and his .406 slugging percentage is his best since 2013. Perhaps some time away from the game will help him get back on track.

Hamilton is back in time for a date against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night. With outfielders Eloy Jiminez, Luis Robert, Adam Eaton and Adam Engel all on the injured list, Hamilton could see a prominent role in his first night back. Right-handed pitcher Kenta Maeda will get the start for the Twins. That's good news for Hamilton, who has 2 hits and a run scored against Maeda in 6 career at-bats.

The White Sox will enter Tuesday's game against the Twins as the -138 favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Meanwhile, Minnesota is the underdog at +118 odds.
