FanDuel Sportsbook's adjusted odds to win now have Simpson at +2000. The 35-year-old major title holder will have an earlier tee-time Friday to make a move at the leaders, Louis Oosthuizen (-6), Jordan Spieth (-5) and Brian Harman (-5).
Simpson has made the cut in five straight British Open Championships going back to 2015. His best finish was T-12th in 2018 at Carnoustie. His Round 1 score of 66 on Thursday tied his best-ever round at The Open. That also occurred at Royal St. George's during Round 1 in 2011 when Simpson made his British Open debut
