While the New England Patriots have re-signed Cam Newton to presumably be their starting quarterback in 2021, it doesn't mean they won't be looking to draft the quarterback of the future come April.
Currently holding the No. 15 overall pick and 10 picks in total in the 2021 Draft, the Patriots are doing their homework, especially Bill Belichick.
Alabama held its second pro day on Tuesday and Belichick was there in person to do some scouting of quarterback Mac Jones, among other players. During Jones' throwing session the cameras caught Belichick showing a bit of disapproval at one of the deep tosses that missed the mark.
Belichick has always been known as somewhat of a perfectionist, who always expects the best out of his players, and Jones clearly didn't meet that criteria in this situation.
While it was originally thought that Jones would be there for the taking at No. 15 by the Patriots, recent reports have suggested Jones could be selected as high as No. 3 overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
So while we don't know where the Alabama product will ultimately land, it might cost the Patriots a handful of draft picks in order to move up high enough to select the National Championship-winning QB.
