The Seahawks Should Sign Brian Winters Immediately

The Seattle Seahawks just completed a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets, receiving Jamal Adams in exchange for some serious draft capital. But Seattle could once again turn to New York to address another hole on its roster: right guard.

In a surprising move, the Jets released veteran right guard Brian Winters, and he would be an excellent addition for the Seahawks.

Most sources seem to have third-round rookie Damien Lewis (not to be confused with "Billions" star Damian Lewis) penciled in as the starter at RG. Obviously, relying on a rookie is always a bit of a gamble, but that's especially true in 2020 when the pandemic has complicated almost every aspect of NFL life.

Adding Winters, who received a solid 62.4 grade from Pro Football Focus last year, would give this team another viable starting guard. At the very least, Winters could serve as an insurance policy incase Lewis underwhelms.

Plus, stealing another player from the Jets would make the Jamal Adams deal look even better, and that has to be attractive to Seahawks GM John Schneider.
