Saints News: Ryan Ramczyk Contract Extension Details Revealed

The New Orleans Saints have spent the NFL offseason preparing for one of the biggest personnel changes in football. That happened with the retirement of future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. While the Saints continue to plan around their next quarterback, be it Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill, there are a number of mainstays.

One key piece comes in the form of offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk, who recently signed a five-year, $96 million extension to stay in New Orleans long-term. The contract details for this extension were recently reported, and they're quite favorable for the Saints.

It looks like the Saints will backload Ramczyk's new contract with increasing figures in each consecutive year. Additionally, the franchise will offer most of Ramczyk's contract in 2021 as a $19 million signing bonus. The kicker is that this drops his 2021 cap number by $5.5 million.

Regardless of the details, this extension makes Ramczyk the highest-paid right tackle in all of football. He's deserving, too. In four years in New Orleans, the 27-year-old tackle has started in all 63 of his appearances. He's also missed just one game over that span.

In 2020, Ramczyk allowed just two sacks for the entire year according to ProFootballFocus. He was also rated 81.5 according to PFF. His new contract offers the Saints some flexibility moving into the 2021 season, which is always a big positive with these contract extensions.
