Running back holdouts are in the news again, and for Cleveland Browns fans that may bring back memories of the Peyton Hillis situation. After a breakout 2010 season, Hillis and Cleveland got stuck in messy contract talks, which led to Hillis sitting out some games, at least claiming to be sick and/or injured.

In a recent interview with 92.3 The Fan, Hillis revealed that he has regrets over how he handled the situation.

Honestly, I wish I would’ve retired in Cleveland. I wish that I could’ve played there for 10 more years. Even my wife said we loved our time in Cleveland more than we loved anywhere else, even in Arkansas. We just enjoyed Cleveland and every time we go back, we try to find an excuse to go back to Cleveland all the time even to this day. There’s a lot of things that I wish I would’ve done differently, not just for me but for the fans also.

Browns fans took plenty of glee when Hillis' three seasons after leaving Cleveland were all disappointing, tallying just a combined 671 yards on 184 carries.

This interview from Hillis should go a long way to healing the frustrations the fans felt. With nothing but praise Cleveland, Browns fans can go back to remembering Hillis fondly for his 1,177-yard, 11-touchdown year in 2010.
