Packers GM Reveals Plans for Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers are facing a pivotal 2021 offseason headlined by their quarterback situation. With first-round pick Jordan Love serving as Aaron Rodgers' backup this past season, the team could, in theory, move on from Rodgers and begin a new era. This possibility clearly irked Rodgers after the team's NFC Championship loss.
However, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has revealed his plan for Love, which directly impacts Rodgers' future as well.
#Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Jordan Love and if he's the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers: "I view Jordan Love as a talented prospect that we're excited about developing. I know it's not the norm having quarterbacks sit for a long time, but we certainly believe in that."

Gutekunst's comment shed much-needed light on the Packers' QB situation.
Love being viewed as a "prospect" doesn't indicate that he's ready to start tomorrow. Rather he needs time to season before he's ready to be a franchise QB, much like how the Packers handled Rodgers' succession of Brett Favre.
In fact, Green Bay's GM talks about believing in young quarterbacks needing to sit "for a long time," so that again goes against any thoughts that Rodgers is on his way out to make room for Love.
While observers have theorized about possible Rodgers trade destinations, his GM's comments seem to rule out that possibility. With the team declining the Los Angeles Rams' pursuits of their MVP quarterback, Green Bay seems intent on keeping Rodgers around and building around him in 2021.
