The Philadelphia Eagles have not shown commitment to a starting running back over the last few seasons, but that may all change with a new head coach in Nick Sirianni. Third-year RB Miles Sanders is set to take on the majority of the snaps once again and comes with RB2 value in fantasy football.

Although Sanders has the skillset to become RB1 in PPR leagues, the Eagles simply do not give him enough work to reach that threshold. The 24-year-old has seen more than 15 touches in a games just 11 times across 28 career contests played in the NFL. That is simply not going to get the job done.

However, Sanders' ability to make an impact both rushing and receiving the ball keeps him in range to finish as a top-20 RB. He ended last season RB23 in PPR scoring despite missing four games due to injury. Overall, Sanders racked up 1,064 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns on a total of 192 touches (164 rushing attempts plus 28 receptions).

The Eagles have an opportunity to switch things up on offense given the rushing abilities of starting quarterback Jalen Hurts. It wouldn't be surprising to see this team increase from its average of 25.2 rushing attempts per game in 2020 (No. 22 in NFL), which would only help Sanders see more usage.

The 2019 second-round pick seems like a lock to post over 1,000 yards from scrimmage, but his upside stops there. There is just too much depth in the backfield on this team with the likes of Boston Scott and Kerryon Johnson as threats to steal touches.

Sanders has an average draft position of No. 37 overall and No. 19 among RBs in PPR leagues, according to FantasyPros. Fantasy managers shouldn't reach for him in any capacity, but they can feel comfortable sliding him into their RB2 slot for the season.

Sanders checks in at RB17 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
