The New York Mets have taken control of the NL East division as they currently sit 3.5 games up in first place with a record of 38-31 despite suffering a number of injuries across the roster.

However, their latest injury update was good news as pitcher Marcus Stroman is set to rejoin the starting rotation very soon.

Mets Injury Update

The Mets knew they dodged a bullet when Stroman's MRI regarding his left hip injury came back clean a few days ago. The 30-year-old righty originally felt soreness during his last start and ended up leaving after just 1.0 inning of work (23 pitches).

Fortunately, Stroman has avoided a trip to the injured list and will not even miss one full turn in the rotation. He is expected to face the Washington Nationals on Monday night, according to Mets manager Luis Rojas.

The seven-year pro's play this season has been a major reason why the Mets continue to win ballgames. Overall, Stroman is 6-5 on the season with a 2.32 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through his first 15 starts. He has also struck out 75 opposing hitters in 85.1 innings pitched.

Stroman is not expected to be on any kind of pitch count moving forward and his return show allow the Mets to keep their momentum going. They currently have the fourth-best odds to win the World Series at +850, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
