Mets News: Marcus Stroman Latest Pitcher to Suffer Injury

The New York Mets can't seem to catch an injury break this season. In spite of the injury bug floating around this team, New York continues to lead the NL East division with their 37-31 overall record.
New York suffered another blow to its pitching staff in Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Braves when Marcus Stroman exited his start after just 1.0 innings pitched. He had thrown just 23 pitches and faced five batters before heading to the training room.

Mets Injury Update
According to reports, Stroman left this start after experiencing left hip soreness. The 30-year-old right-hander is expected to be reevaluated on Wednesday. Jon Heyman of the MLB Network did offer a positive update to the injury this morning, stating that Stroman will undergo an MRI today and the Mets staff is "pretty hopeful" he'll be all right.

Currently, the Mets have seven players listed on the 10-day injured list and another six on the shelf for the 60-day IL. Additionally, the Mets list three players including Stroman as "day-to-day."
New York sits just 4.0 games ahead of the second-place Atlanta Braves. The Mets will need every bit of pitching help down the stretch, especially from Stroman. This season, Stroman owns a 2.32 ERA and 1.055 WHIP in his 15 starts.
Currently, the Mets own the fourth-best odds to win the 2021 World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
