Jamaal Williams COVID Update Boosts Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson Fantasy Outlook in Week 14

Jamaal Williams has impressed filling in for the injured D'Andre Swift. However, Williams was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list on Friday, knocking him out for Sunday's game.

That means Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson are set to see increased work in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos.

Igewbuike has a chance to take on a prominent passing role for this offense as one of the two main backs. Swift averaged 6.7 targets and 5.3 receptions per game over his first 10 contests, racking up catches in the second half of games with Detroit usually trailing.

Igwebuike has seen more consistent work as a pass-catcher, with at least one target in four of the last five games. Four of Jefferson's 5 targets this season came in one game alone.

On the ground, Igwebuike has the potential to rip off big plays. He's recorded 93 rushing yards on just 8 rushing attempts, including a long of 42 and 1 touchdown.

Jermar Jefferson Fantasy Outlook

Jefferson could operate as the early-down rusher out of this backfield on Sunday. He recorded a season-high 5 carries in Week 13 with Swift sidelined, operating as the second rusher behind Williams.

Jefferson notably ran for 41 yards and 1 TD on just 3 attempts in Week 10. He has 2 rushing touchdowns on the year.

Detroit may be forced to abandon the run game as 10-point underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, though. That negative game script would likely favor Igwebuike, but each back could be leaned upon with top pass-catcher T.J. Hockenson doubtful to play.

Both Lions RBs have FLEX appeal, though there's little clarity on their roles, and they'll face a Broncos defense allowing the 11th-fewest PPR points to running backs this season.
