The San Francisco Giants continue to roll and with just one month remaining in the 2021 MLB season, this team has more than proven they are legit. The trade deadline acquisition of former MVP and four-time All-Star Kris Bryant has only helped matters, but the Giants got some concerning injury news with the newest face in the lineup on Friday.
Bryant departed from Friday's game in just the first inning because of right side tightness he felt during a swing in the top of the first. Granted, there was a brief rain delay in this game, but nonetheless, it's a concerning sign for Giants fans.
Kris Bryant Injury Update
Side tightness is an early sign of potential oblique injuries, which tend to be one of the more nagging injuries in baseball. The four-time All-Star is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Saturday with some more concrete news around this potential injury.
Bryant, in just 22 games in San Francisco, has already proven his worth in the Giants lineup. He's slashed .268/.318/.549 with 5 doubles, 6 home runs and 13 RBIs. Both his batting average and slugging percentage numbers are up, despite playing in the pitcher friendly Oracle Park.
Currently, the Giants hold the best record in the big leagues at 83-45 and have +900 odds to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
