The 2021 MLB campaign has been one filled with fear for the Chicago Cubs. Just five years off their 2016 World Series title, the Cubs entered the season knowing the rest of their championship core was set to hit free agency in 2022. That includes names like Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant.

Now, with the Cubs sitting 8.5 games back in the NL Central, this team approaches the MLB Trade Deadline as sellers. With that in mind, the latest injury to one of these potential trade pieces in Bryant is concerning news for Chicago.

Bryant, an OF/3B/1B utility man, was removed from Tuesday night's game with right hamstring fatigue. And now, it looks like he could potentially miss some time with this injury.

Kris Bryant Injury Update

Cubs manager Davis Ross called the hamstring fatigue a "cumulative" issue and doesn't appear overly concerned. Still, Bryant has recently missed a few games here and there in both June and July and this isn't exactly promising news for his trade value.

While the state of his latest injury remains in flux, Bryant still has the resume to call for many suitors at the deadline. The former MVP and four-time All-Star can play every outfield position, as well as the corner infield spots, and is slashing .264/.346/.489 with a nice display of power. He's notched 16 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Bryant is definitely a name to keep track of ahead of the MLB's Trade Deadline this season. And currently, the Cubs own +1600 odds to win the NL Central division on FanDuel Sportsbook. In the next week, Chicago certainly has to decide if they are selling the rest of these assets for the future or truly making a run at the postseason.
