Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin will be one of the Tom Brady's favorite targets once again during the 2021 season. The dynamic wideout could be in for a huge outing facing a lacking Dallas Cowboys secondary in Week 1.

But, a surprise quad injury limited Godwin at practice on Tuesday, which could tank his fantasy outlook for the season-opener.

The ailment doesn't sound serious, though it's the worst time for this issue to pop up. Tampa Bay kicks off its season in two days, and they'll want to be cautious with their wideout if he's not 100%.

Godwin demonstrated a clear connection with Tom Brady in their first year together. The wideout was productive, hauling in 65 receptions for 840 yards and 7 TDs.

His WR31 finish in PPR scoring paled in comparison to his WR2 campaign in 2019, but that was expected given the mouths that need to be fed in this loaded offense. Godwin also only played in 12 games last year due to various ailments.

This certainly isn't the start fantasy managers with Godwin on their rosters wanted. He has top-12 WR upside, but more injuries could cap his upside. Godwin needs to be on the field each week in order to make sure his work isn't siphoned away.

If Godwin is ready to go in Week 1, he gets a mouth-watering matchup. The Cowboys gave up the fifth-most PPR points per game (41.99) to wide receivers last season. They've shuffled their secondary around, but there'll also be kinks to work out in new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn's first game.

Godwin is a sure-fire starter if he's fully healthy ahead of Thursday's matchup. However, managers should keep a close eye on quad injury as the season-opener approaches.
