Chiefs Fans Get Exciting Tyreek Hill Contract Extension Update

The Kansas City Chiefs will spend this offseason looking to add talent, though retaining key players is just as important for this title contender to remain at the top of the AFC. Star wideout Tyreek Hill is a major part of the Chiefs' top-ranked offense, but he's also currently slated to hit unrestricted free agency after the 2022 season.

Securing an extension with Hill would be massive for Kansas City before the regular season begins, and it sounds like things are trending in that direction.

Tyreek Hill Contract Extension

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that the Chiefs and Hill's agent have held productive negotiation talks "over the course of the week." He adds proposals have been going "back and forth" between the two sides as each party works toward coming to an agreement.

This is great news for fans. Each side sounds committed to hammering out a deal, and the constant dialogue shows it's a priority for the Chiefs to lock down their dynamic playmaker. Rapoport also said this deal will be "normal" without many stipulations or incentives for Hill to earn the full amount, which should make the wideout very happy as well.

Hill is coming off of another dominant year in 2021. He racked up a career-high 111 receptions for 1,239 yards and 9 TDs, earning his sixth straight Pro Bowl nod.

This would be the second extension for Hill after he was drafted by KC in 2016. He's in the final year of the three-year, $54 million deal he signed at the start of the 2019 season.
