For a while now, its been a two-man race for the AL Cy Young Award between New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole and Toronto Blue Jays starter Robbie Ray. Cole has maintained a lead over Ray in this time though, with just a week ago Cole holding -130 odds to Ray's +150 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
However, Cole's last start went terribly, surrendering 7 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched to the Cleveland Indians. This shot his ERA all the way up to 3.03. Ray now leads the American League in ERA at 2.72 and he also has taken over the top spot in the odds, now at -190, compared to Cole at +165.
Ray also holds the slight advantage in strikeouts (238-231) but Cole is slated to start Friday, so that lead could change. Cole also leads in wins (15-12), although that is becoming an increasingly devalued stat in the Cy Young race.
The last couple starts for both of these aces will decide this race as the season comes to a close. Below is a full list of AL Cy Young odds.
2021 AL Cy Young Odds

2. Gerrit Cole (+165)
3. Lance Lynn (+1300)
4. Carlos Rodon (+5500)
