AL Cy Young Odds: Gerrit Cole and Shane Bieber Lead the Way as Favorites

With the 2021 MLB season quickly approaching, projecting the MLB award winners is a top offseason activity and that includes the American League Cy Young. This prestigious award is handed out to the top performing pitcher and the odds on who will win it have already been posted.

Tied for the best odds at +330, according to player future odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook, are New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole and Cleveland Indians ace Shane Bieber. This is no surprise as Bieber won the award just last season and Cole finished fourth in the voting.

Cole finished the shortened 2020 season with a 7-3 record and a 2.84 ERA. He pitched 2 complete games for the Yankees as well and struck out 94 batters in 12 starts. Entering into this season at 30 years old, Cole has yet to win a Cy Young award despite being one of the most consistent pitchers over the last four seasons.

Along with Cole at the top of the odds is reigning winner Shane Bieber. Bieber went 8-1 last season in 12 starts and led the league with an impressive 1.63 ERA. He also led the league with 122 strikeouts and will be looking to repeat that kind of performance this season. Bieber is just 25 years old and looks to be a promising young star in the world of baseball.

Of course, it'll take a stellar season to take home the AL Cy Young award and it is anyone's game at this point.
