3 Most Likely Teams to Draft Zach Wilson in 2021 NFL Draft
By FairwayJay

Zach Wilson has made tremendous strides as a college quarterback since 2019. He's overcome shoulder and hand surgery and had a sensational junior season in 2020 when he passed for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns to just 3 interceptions.
Wilson cemented his rising star with perhaps his best collegiate performance in his final game. He passed for 425 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 49-23 Boca Raton Bowl win over Central Florida.
Now the 6-foot-3 QB out of BYU is projected to be a top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Wilson's ability to throw the ball with timing and anticipation puts him near the top of the class. Arm strength, accuracy and mobility are all plus grades by scouts. Many NFL Draft analysts now believe Wilson's rise will have him taken as the second quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Here are three likely landing spots for Zach Wilson in the 2021 NFL Draft.
3. New England Patriots (No. 15)
Don't count on Wilson lasting this long, but the Patriots would take him or consider moving up if they grade Wilson as high as most analysts. With Cam Newton a free agent and backup QB Jarrett Stidham likely not in the Patriots plans going forward, New England is in need of a quarterback for the future. Wilson more than fits the bill.
2. Atlanta Falcons (No. 4)
Matt Ryan is not done as the Falcons quarterback, and the 35-year-old is not the problem in Atlanta. But Falcons management may find it too hard to pass up Wilson's talent, poise and skillset. Other first round picks have sat behind a top flight starting quarterback for at least a year, including Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. The Falcons have more urgent needs along the defensive line and at cornerback, but if a dominant player is not available at those positions, Atlanta may opt to trade down or make Wilson the pick.
1. San Francisco 49ers (No. 12)
There are rumblings that the New York Jets will pass on a quarterback with the No. 2 pick and build around Sam Darnold with their new coaching staff and four first round draft picks in the next two years. The 49ers, along with the Carolina Panthers, are among the teams that may move up in the draft to take Zach Wilson. While Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the roster, San Francisco can move on this offseason without incurring much of a penalty. Wilson may be the quarterback that head coach Kyle Shanahan most covets for his offense, so don't be surprised if the 49ers pay a hefty price to move up.
