As is tradition, the New York Yankees have landed the biggest star in MLB free agency, inking Gerrit Cole to a 9-year, $324 million contract.

Unsurprisingly, this move instantly shifted the Yankees' odds to win the 2020 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Prior to the signing, New York was available at +600 odds to win it all, but the the Bronx Bombers jumped to +500 once the news broke last night, and have since improved to +430, as of Wednesday morning.

Yankees Odds to Win World Series

With this shift, the Yankees are now the lone betting favorites to win the 2020 World Series, surpassing the Houston Astros (+550).

Following the Astros and Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers (+600), Atlanta Braves (+1100) and reigning champion Washington Nationals (+1300) round out the rest of the top five in the odds.

Some other teams of note include the Philadelphia Phillies (+1600), Boston Red Sox (+2000), Cleveland Indians (+2000) and St. Louis Cardinals (+2000).

While the Cole signing has quickly made the Yankees the early favorites to win the 2020 World Series, there's still plenty of time left in the offseason, and these odds will likely continue to shift as the 2019 MLB Winter Meetings progress.
