Would You Rather: Own Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert or Matt Breida in Week 14 for the Fantasy Football Playoffs

Tevin Coleman looked to be the running back to own in the San Francisco 49ers' backfield after returning from injury in Week 5. However, a few recent poor performances have called his fantasy football value into question though, especially while he's getting outplayed by teammate Raheem Mostert.

A balance of rushing and receiving work has helped keep Coleman's value afloat, but he hasn't seen especially great volume in either area. He has no fewer than 12 carries or 14 targets in a game since Week 7, and in those last six games, he's averaging 10.0 rush attempts and 3.2 targets.

That drop in volume was especially pronounced in a Week 13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, as Coleman had just five carries and one target, setting a season low with six opportunities. Mostert, who has seen an increased role with Matt Breida on the shelf, notched 19 carries and two targets in that loss.

Mostert also outsnapped Coleman 42 to 10 on Sunday, which gives Coleman a snap share below 50 percent in two of the last three games. He had only fallen below 50 percent once in the previous five games, and his lead role seems is clearly in jeopardy.

Breida's potential return really throws a wrench into things. He was ahead of Mostert but behind Coleman on the depth chart in Week 10 (the last time he was active), and we've seen that head coach Kyle Shanahan is content to roll with a true committee backfield.

It's not time to crown Mostert as the new lead back after just one game of out-touching Coleman, but with the recent trend in Coleman's volume, it's also hard to trust him in fantasy. With Breida making this situation even harder to decipher, it's best to avoid the 49ers' backfield, unless Breida is ruled out again or Mostert is officially named the team's new starter.

In our initial Week 14 fantasy football PPR rankings, Coleman checks in at RB26 with Mostert sitting at RB35.
