The NCAA Tournament drawing to a close, which means the field is getting even thinner. There were several intense Sweet 16 games on Thursday, March 23 as the remaining schools battled it out for a chance to make the Elite Eight.

March Madness Results and Scores Yesterday (March 23, 2023)

Thursday's first game saw No. 3 seed Gonzaga defeat No. 2 UCLA by a score of 79-76. Senior Bulldogs forward Drew Timme put the team on his back, dropping a game-high 36 points against the Bruins to punch yet another Elite Eight ticket.

The second game of the night was over almost as soon as it started. The No. 4 seed UConn Huskies got the early jump on No. 8 Arkansas and never let up, cruising to a 88-65 victory.

The most memorable contest of the night was Michigan State vs. Kansas State. This game was tight throughout, and overtime was needed after an intense regulation period saw these teams squared up at 82 apiece. The Wildcats emerged victorious in overtime, winning 98-93 over Tom Izzo's Spartans.

College basketball fans were treated to a big upset in one of the late-night games. Nine-seed Florida Atlantic shocked the country by taking down 4-seed Tennessee 62-55, clinching the school's first-ever Elite Eight appearance.

The teams eliminated from March Madness on Thursday, March 23, 2023, were UCLA, Arkansas, Michigan State and Tennessee. They lost to Gonzaga, UConn, Kansas State and FAU, respectively. That means half of the Elite Eight field is set, while the other spots will be filled Friday by the winners of those four contests.
