Luis Robert Injury Update
Robert was diagnosed with a bruised left hand after he was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance on Tuesday night. X-rays came back negative, which means he is simply day-to-day moving forward. The 24-year-old did stay in the game until the fifth inning, when he struck out on a one-handed swing.
Keep in mind Robert was fresh off a nine-game absence due to left wrist soreness as well. Dealing with two issues to the same area of the body can't be easy, so the White Sox may take the safe route and have Robert stay in the dugout until the weekend. He has avoided a serious injury, though.
Robert has been one of the more consistent hitters in a White Sox lineup averaging only 4.21 runs per game this season (No. 20 in MLB). He is slashing .295/.331/.444 with 54 runs scored, 18 doubles, 12 home runs, 56 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 92 games. They need his stability near the top of the order.
For now, all the White Sox can do is win the games on their schedule and hope those above them in the standings lose. Chicago is a +168 underdog on the moneyline against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
