Having a star player go down with an injury in the thick of the playoff race is the last thing any NBA team wants to happen, but that was the case for the Los Angeles Clippers last week. Let's dive a bit deeper into when Paul George may be back on the court after suffering a devastating knee injury.

Latest Paul George Injury Update

George came down in pain after jumping for a rebound in a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 21. He called it a "freak accident" when speaking of the incident on his podcast. After it was revealed there was no ligament damage, the eight-time All-Star was diagnosed with a knee sprain.

It was relatively good news considering surgery is not currently an option George is pursuing. He will attack a rigorous rehab process, instead, with hopes of returning during the postseason. There has not been an exact return date set yet, but the Clippers will reevaluate George is two or three weeks.

All signs point to the earliest George could be back in the locker room with his teammates is in a second-round playoff series in mid-April. However, any setbacks would lengthen his recovery timeline. The 32-year-old explained on his podcast that he will still be involved in practices and film.

For now, the Clippers will rely on Kawhi Leonard and a supporting cast of veteran pros to hold down the fort for the rest of the regular season. LA checks in fifth in the Western Conference with a record of 40-36 and has the eighth-best odds to win the NBA Finals at +2200, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
